The core consists of 29 pairs of muscles in the lumbar, pelvic, and hip complex.   The core is involved in everything we do.  Bending over, sitting down, twisting, turning, walking – you name the movement and there is some aspect of the core involved.  These muscles must move in coordination with each other.    Achieving this coordination requires strength and coordination among the 29 pairs of muscles.  Many of us have not paid any attention to the core muscles over the years and have altered the way we move to compensate for the lack of core strength.  Because core strength is so important to movement I emphasize core development with all of my clients.
