As we age, balance becomes an increasingly more important issue.  Like flexibility, balance is a “use it or lose it” aspect of aging.  Falls are an issue at any age but falls after age 50 become harder to recover from.  Balance must be practiced daily to prevent falls.  I train my clients using controlled unstable positions.  My clients exercise on one leg, on stability balls, and on other unstable platforms.  The goal is to get the client using the muscles necessary to maintain balance.  I also bring aspects of Tai Chi into each client’s program, adding additional means to achieve balance training.
